SONET's SM-04 Motorized Change-Over Switch is engineered to provide reliable automatic and manual transfer of electrical loads between utility (mains) and generator power sources in both single-phase and three-phase applications. The controller continuously monitors the voltage of the designated control phase to ensure seamless power source selection and uninterrupted operation. Under normal conditions, the load remains connected to the mains supply. In the event of a mains power failure, the switch automatically transfers the load to the generator once a valid generator voltage is detected. When mains power is restored, the system automatically reverts the load back to the utility source. For maintenance and operational flexibility, the SM-IV also features a manual operating mode, allowing users to safely switch the load between mains and generator sources whenever automatic operation is disabled.
